MonyaAutomatic expense tracking from your bank's emails
Monya gives you a personal email address ending in @in.heymonya.com. Set up a rule in your email to forward purchase emails from your bank there, and each email becomes an entry with the amount, currency, card and merchant, waiting for a quick check. It works with any email provider and on iPhone, Android and the web, because the forwarding happens in your email account.

How to set it up
- In Monya, open Bank emails and tap Get address. You'll see your personal address, for example k7f3q9x2ab@in.heymonya.com, with a copy button.
- In your email, create a rule or filter: emails from your bank's address go to your Monya address. Forward only your bank's emails, not your whole inbox.
- Some email services send a confirmation code or link before they start forwarding. Monya catches it and shows it on the same screen, so you can paste the code or open the link.
- To test, forward one old purchase email from your bank and tap Check. You'll see how many emails arrived, how many became entries and how many were skipped.
The app has step-by-step instructions for Gmail, Outlook and Hotmail, iCloud Mail and two more services, plus general steps for any other email provider that supports rules or filters.
What happens to each email
- Monya finds the amount, currency, the last digits of the card or account and the merchant.
- The entry goes to the matching account: by the last digits if you've added them to the account, otherwise by the bank's name.
- Each new entry is marked "needs review", so you can confirm or fix the category with one tap.
- Login codes, promotions and newsletters are skipped.
Many bank emails follow a fixed layout, and Monya reads those with built-in rules, without AI. Emails it can't read that way are sent to the AI as a short piece of text around the amount.
Why bank emails are a good source
Most banks can send an email for every card payment or transfer. Unlike a bank connection, an email works with any bank in any country, and it doesn't stop working when the bank changes its login. Unlike notifications, email works on iPhone too, because your phone isn't involved: your email account forwards the message.

No double entries
The same purchase can reach Monya more than once: as an email, as a notification on Android, or because you already said it by voice. Monya checks for this. An email about a payment that arrived as a notification within an hour isn't recorded again. If you already logged the same amount, currency and day yourself, the email doesn't create a second entry. The same email forwarded twice is ignored.
Privacy
- The text of your emails isn't stored. Monya takes the amount, card digits and merchant, saves the entry and forgets the email.
- Only your bank's emails reach Monya if you set the rule by sender. The original stays in your inbox.
- Card and phone numbers are removed before any text goes to the AI.
- You can switch receiving off at any time, or get a new address; the old one then rejects all mail.
Banks we've tested
Monya is built to read bank emails in many languages, including English and Thai. Bangkok Bank's payment confirmation emails are tested on real emails and read without AI. For other banks, forward one old email and tap Check to see the result before you rely on it.

Which email providers work?
Any provider that can forward emails by a rule or filter. The app has instructions for Gmail, Outlook and Hotmail, iCloud Mail and others.
Does it work on iPhone?
Yes. Forwarding happens in your email account, so it works the same on iPhone, Android and the web.
Do I have to forward all my email?
No, and you shouldn't. Create a rule for your bank's sender address only.
Is automatic entry from bank emails free?
It's a Premium feature, and Premium comes with a free trial. Without Premium, emails are received but no entries are created.
What if my bank's email isn't recognized?
Monya sends a short piece of text around the amount to the AI. If an email still can't be read, it's skipped and counted on the Bank emails screen, and you can record that payment by screenshot or voice.
Can someone else send emails to my Monya address?
The address is random and personal. If you think it has leaked, tap New address and the old one stops accepting mail.
