What linking a bank involves
Most budget apps import transactions through a bank aggregator. You sign in to your bank inside their app, and the aggregator keeps ongoing access to your account history. Connections also break: banks change their login, the sync stops, and you find gaps weeks later.

What Monya keeps private
- Your bank login stays with your bank. Monya has no access to your accounts.
- For notifications, you pick which banking apps Monya listens to; one-time codes are filtered out.
- Card and phone numbers are removed from text before it reaches the AI.
- On iPhone, speech is recognized on the device; only text reaches our server.

The trade-off, honestly
Without a bank connection, Monya doesn’t pull transactions from your bank by itself on iPhone. Recording takes a phrase or a screenshot. In return, every entry is one you’ve seen, and you notice your spending as it happens. To catch anything you skipped, compare with a screenshot of your bank balance and Monya lists what’s missing.
